INDIANAPOLIS, IN – Litho Press Inc. began in 1953 as a commercial printer, producing brochures and catalogs for clients throughout the Midwest. In the 1990s, the company shifted its focus to the growing packaging market — a strategic move that continues to define its business today. Central to its long-term success in labels and packaging has been an unwavering commitment to quality. That commitment led Litho Press to install Lithec’s LithoFlash® inline color control system on two of its four sheetfed presses, an upgrade that has significantly strengthened their color accuracy and efficiency ever since.
“Quality is absolutely critical in packaging,” says Bernie Lacy, President of Litho Press. “We installed LithoFlash not only to reduce makeready times, but also to achieve even tighter color consistency throughout the entire run. It’s allowed us to produce more jobs per day and the quality is better across the board.”
LithoFlash is an advanced inline camera system that can be retrofitted to nearly any sheetfed offset press. It automatically reads the color bar during production and sends real-time data to the press, adjusting the ink keys with precision.
“This was the second press we equipped with the system,” Lacy explains. “There was an adjustment period for our pressmen. Instead of pulling a sheet, laying it on the console, scanning the color bar, and making manual corrections, the entire process now happens on autopilot. The system has simply become part of how we operate.”
